I was a working artist at the art studio in Columbus, Ohio called Brick Box Studios. They were putting on an event for a grilled cheese competition with food trucks from the Columbus area. If you are wondering if I ate grilled cheese all day…you are correct! PBR sponsored the event and people trickled in and out for most of the day. The artists that had studio space in the building opened their doors and we ate grilled cheese and drank PBR all day.
My only job was to paint and the winning food truck got my art work as the award for BEST grilled cheese! I was hired to be the live mural artist. People watched my design come to life. Below you will see a few of the preliminary sketch ideas before the event. I couldn’t finish the piece during the event, so I took it home to finish some of the smaller details and layers. I delivered the artwork to the winning food truck later on in the next few weeks. If you haven’t had Paddy Waggon’s grilled cheese in Columbus, Ohio – I suggest you do that today!
This even was delicious and so much fun! Any suggestions on how to be a full time mural artist? I’m all ears!
